The article discusses the importance of the good condition of fire trucks taking into account the development of urban infrastructure, analyzes scientific works on diagnosing engines and exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, as well as the relationship of sensors and actuators of a modern fire tanker to comply with environmental and fire safety requirements. Based on the results of the research, it was proposed to use a theoretical model for diagnosing fire trucks based on the dependence of exhaust gas smoke and the total mileage of the vehicle, as well as improving the testing methodology for smoke
