The article analyzes statistical data on occupational injuries among personnel of the fire department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. The characteristic causes and circumstances of its occurrence are considered. One of the main factors causing injury to fire department personnel is falling from a height. The article presents ways to reduce accidents when working at height both at the site of a fire and in fire and rescue units. We identified shortcomings in the existing firefighter equipment in service in the fire departments of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. A method has been proposed for improving firefighter combat clothing by integrating a safety harness into the firefighter's trousers. The conducted full-scale experiment indicates a slight increase in time when performing the exercise of putting on combat clothing and firefighter equipment. The comparative characteristics of firefighter's combat clothing and a safety harness are considered. A detailed analysis of the compatibility of the proposed integration with the requirements for firefighter combat clothing and a safety harness was carried out, which confirms the possibility of integration. The level of financial costs for the implementation of the proposed concept for integrating a safety harness into a firefighter’s combat clothing is analyzed.
