The problem of ensuring the protection of the population and territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation is currently extremely acute, since this region is strategically and economically important. The infrastructure to ensure security in this area must meet high requirements and standards, due to the harsh climatic conditions of the region. The article considers an approach to the development of a system of criteria and indicators for determining the rational composition of a complex of equipment, technical means, equipment, property, equipment and equipment that ensures the most effective performance of the entire range of tasks by units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. An algorithm for identifying significant indicators is presented and an example of practical application of this algorithm is demonstrated
