The article highlights the specifics of the organization and conduct of fire safety briefings. The authors have developed a method for quantifying their effectiveness. The methodology is based on a sociological survey of employees of enterprises and organizations with further statistical processing of the results obtained. A total of 380 respondents took part in the survey. Based on the survey results, such indicators were calculated as: the number of fire safety requirements for employees that respondents are aware of; the number of fire safety requirements that respondents always meet; the number of fire safety requirements that respondents always ignore; the number of fire safety requirements that respondents sometimes or partially meet. Based on the analysis of a variety of instructions, the number of requirements that an employee learns during a fire safety briefing is estimated. Next, the coefficients of knowledge, performance, and, in fact, efficiency were calculated. As a result of the study, it was found that employees tend to fulfill the requirements they know, but the level of knowledge of these requirements is very low. At the same time, the mathematical expectation of the efficiency coefficient of fire safety briefings with a probability of 98% lies in the range of 0.117 ± 0.057 and confirms the hypothesis of low effectiveness of briefings
