The article considers the possibility of determining the criteria for selecting a rescue tool to improve the operational and service indicators of the reaction of the EMERCOM of Russia on traffic accidents. A comparison of the possible application of different approaches using different methods was performed. The analysis of the technical documentation of the ASI made it possible to identify the main indicators by which it would be possible to conduct a study and determine the criterion for choosing the ASI. The selection of the best ASI sample according to the established indicators of technical and economic criteria is being performed by using methods of dimensional analysis and multicriteria selection
