The article presents the results of the research of the information awareness and preparedness of the population in the field of the life safety. The research was conducted by surveying children and adults in the subjects of the Russian Federation of the Siberian, Ural and far Eastern Federal districts. The results of the study allow territorial divisions of the Main administrations of the EMERCOM of Russia in constituent entities of the Russian Federation of the Siberian, Ural and far Eastern Federal districts to assess the current level of preparedness and awareness of the population in the region, to determine the further directions of improvement of preventive work and the most efficient information sources (communication channels)
