Article is devoted to a problem of identification of indirect signs of malfunction of fuel system, arisen before the fire and determined by results of poll of the owner of the car and eyewitnesses. Such signs are interruptions in operation of the engine and the increased fuel consumption, existence of a smell of gasoline in salon of the car and beyond its limits, and also the corresponding smudges of fuel testify to not tightness of system. Detection of the indirect signs of malfunctions of fuel system of cars specified in article before the fire, at interrogation of witnesses and interrogation of witnesses by the investigator, will allow to define his reason
