The article presents basic information on the method of infrared spectroscopy, which makes it possible to detect traces of the initiators of combustion at the object-carriers during the fire-technical examination. The authors present the results of an analysis of the ash residue of the finishing materials subjected to thermal exposure, using enamel paint as an accelerator, and it is established that the IR spectroscopy method makes it possible to establish the presence of its components in the ash residue
