The article assesses the signifi cance of petroleum and petroleum product warehouses facilities in the statistics of fi re and explosion in the petroleum industry of the Russian Federation. Presented: • defi nition and list of objects related to petroleum and petroleum product warehouses; • causes of negative trends that result in fi res and explosions to petroleum and petroleum product warehouses; • scenario of an accident accompanied by a fi re and explosion at facilities to petroleum and petroleum product warehouses; • logic op eration of fi r e safety system to petroleum and petroleum product warehouses; • results of the analysis of the safety barriers of the fi re safety system to petroleum and petroleum product warehouses; • results of synthesis of directions for taking measures to reduce the risk of fi re and explosion to petroleum and petroleum product warehouses.
